We believe in the values of inclusivity, freedom, honesty, transparency, fairness, accountability and integrity.

We see a future with the following characteristics:
  • Creatively secure - where everyone feels that their ideas and views are valued
  • Inspirationally sound - where community choices are based on clear criteria that serve the whole town
  • Generatively stable - where actions are taken by, or on behalf of the community for the general benefit of the community as a whole
  • Motivationally sustainable - where we learn from our successes and our mistakes together
  • Appreciably successful - where we all have an understanding of the value of our town and a share in our rewards and celebrations
We do not know what the future holds for Bognor Regis.
All we can say is that, in common with other places, it will be influenced by the prevailing conditions.
Different people and groups will have their own visions of the future of our town.  Here is a summary of municipal ideas on what the future may hold:

National Context
The UK National Action Plan sets a context for local devolution of planning decisions within a broad national framework.  It commits to the values of being receptive to new ideas, more creative engagement and empowerment of local communities, more responsiveness from local councils, more transparency and more accountability.

West Sussex County Council
The Future West Sussex Plan commits to the values of treating people with respect, of listening and acting on what is heard, being honest and realistic, trust and support and genuinely valued.

Arun District Council
“The vision for Bognor Regis is to provide a new role for the town in the 21st Century. This new role will build upon its assets and create a series of new attractions for residents and visitors alike. At the heart of the vision will be a viable town centre with a richness of urban form and a quality of architecture that will reposition Bognor Regis as a first class coastal destination.”
The key theme of the implementation plan is to provide a secure and inspirational re-generation that is sustainable and adds value to the whole community.

Bognor Regis Town Council
The Town Council’s view of Bognor is that “We are a thriving 21st century seaside town, where we celebrate and care for our heritage and identity as England’s first purpose built seaside resort. The natural light and beauty of sea and land continue to cheer residents and attract visitors. We are, as one of the sunniest towns in Britain and the largest town centre in the district, home to an extensive and diverse array of services, products and experiences created and enjoyed by residents, employees, students and visitors of all ages, abilities and means, all year around.”
It sees the top 5 opportunities and challenges as our identity, our experiences (and those of our visitors), accessibility, learning and skills and investment in our future.
